How Our Converters Work

Our tools convert various geospatial formats (.shp, .geojson, .kml, .gpkg, .fgb) to data analysis formats (CSV and Parquet). We currently don't support conversion between geospatial formats (e.g., KML to Shapefile) as our focus is on making geographic data accessible for analysis in spreadsheet and data processing tools.

Source Formats We Support

  • Shapefile (.shp)

    Esri's vector data format for storing geographical features, consisting of multiple files (.shp, .dbf, .shx, etc.).

  • GeoJSON (.geojson)

    JSON-based format for geographic features, widely used in web mapping applications.

  • KML/KMZ (.kml/.kmz)

    XML-based format developed for Google Earth, with KMZ being the compressed version.

  • GeoPackage (.gpkg)

    SQLite-based format that can store multiple vector and raster layers in a single file.

  • FlatGeobuf (.fgb)

    High-performance binary format based on FlatBuffers with streaming capabilities.
